CPR - Someone’s Life is Depending on You

May 24, 2017

May 10, 2017- The value of knowing how to perform Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) goes well beyond simply improving health care awareness.  CPR is a basic foundation of health care and critical for knowing what to do in an emergency.  “That’s why Abundant Life Nursing (abundantlifenursing.com) training programs offers a CPR education component,” said Patricia Allen, President, Abundant Life Nursing.

Being CPR trained can help save a life, and could be the difference between life and death.  According to Ms. Allen, CPR consists of two main procedures – compressions and respirations.  Compressions are done by pressing down on the chest attempting to pump blood through the valves of the heart and throughout the body.  Respirations or giving breaths is performed to restore breathing in a person who has stopped breathing.

Cardiac arrest is the leading cause of death in the United States and Canada.  Bystanders in public places play an important role in improving chances of survival. “Once the heart stops pumping and there is no respiration, CPR can be performed, Ms. Allen concluded. Waiting on the paramedics to get there is a waste of time.  Step right up and do the skills you have been taught.  Someone’s life is depending on you.”
